12/7/2023 0 Comments Beyond wonderland 2021 parkingThe lineup boasted a wide range of dance music genres so there was something for everyone. Nocturnal as a whole brings a very welcoming and fun crowd. Only one Insomniac event is held at Glen Helen each year making it a very special experience. Overall, Nocturnal felt immersive and lively this year and the festival was beautiful and decorative as always. Other sets we loved were Bunny From Rabbit In The Moon, Spencer Brown, and Eli & Fur. Sian performed a techno classics set here which was a highlight. Although there was some sound overlap from the main stage, the vibes were incredible and everyone was grooving. ![]() Claptone, A-Trak, Sacha Robotti, Sub Focus and Wooli were some favorites.Ī brand-new stage, Owloch Grove debuted this year to the left of the Wolves Den and was fully-immersive with a giant owl in the center. Sunken Garden, the previously known ‘Lighthouse stage’ had a new design this year, and consisted of a diverse lineup of house artists on Saturday and Seven Lions’ Ophelia Records takeover on Sunday. Sitting on the grassy hill overlooking the sunset next to Labyrinth was a major highlight of the weekend, and we appreciated the grass (although it was longer this year we saw several people trip on it). On Sunday, house legends took over the Labyrinth with sets from Malaa, AC Slater, Dr. Nocturnal’s second largest stage, Labyrinth, hosted a Bassrush takeover on Saturday with amazing bass-heavy performances by 12th Planet, Dion Timmer, Flosstradamus, Modestep B2B Downlink (drum and bass set) to name a few. It felt like a combination of 2018’s main stage circular design, 2019’s vertical panels and moving ‘Nocturnal Wonderland’ logo. The stage design for Wolves Den was awesome this year, with a huge horizontal LED screen on top. Seven Lions closed out the main stage on Sunday night with an electrifying set we will truly never forget. 4B and NGHTMRE also threw down with incredibly high-energy sets. The main stage, Wolves Den, was situated in the heart of the festival and boasted incredible sets from 3LAU, Seven Lions, Habstrakt, Matroda, deadmau5 and many others. There were plenty of food and drink options this year, and we loved the CASA BACARDI lounge, which had a speakeasy bar and specialty cocktails. ![]() Being the longest-running Insomniac event, Nocturnal was jam-packed with lights, lasers, pyrotechnics and excited guests. Sprawled across the festival grounds were four large, incredibly unique stages, over six art installations including a black light tunnel, photo-ops and a vendor village. Upon entering, we were greeted with familiar beautiful sights and sounds, performers, water misters and larger-than-life art installations. We noticed several people were denied entry due to this. This year, a negative COVID-19 test or proof of vaccination was required to enter the festival. Once at the gate, the lines moved quickly to get in (we didn’t have to wait at all). The silent disco moved to a bigger area this year, and we appreciated the extra dancing room. The pre-party, campground day party and silent disco were all incredibly fun and great ways to spend time with fellow campers. Meeting and hanging out with our camping neighbors was a highlight of the weekend. It was fairly easy to walk from stage to stage inside the venue, although it felt slightly crowded this year due to people spreading themselves out more for space.Ĭamping this year was a huge plus, as entering and leaving the venue both days can take a while and the campgrounds had plenty to offer. We’re very glad we wore comfortable walking shoes to this event as it can be long and uphill at times. Seeing the lights, flags and music in the background filled us with excitement and eagerness to get in and start dancing. There was also a nearby wildfire recently which may have added to the dust. ![]() Dust was one of the only complaints we had, but this was really out of Insomniac’s control as this year was one of the driest in California’s history. Once parked, there was a bit of a walk from the parking lot to the venue. The drive to Glen Helen is always hit-or-miss with traffic, and luckily we got there early because there was an accident on the one road into the venue on Saturday. This review is written from the perspective of someone’s third time attending Nocturnal in a row (minus the 2020 hiatus), so some comparisons to previous years will be made. With two days of music and three nights of camping, headliners were blessed this year with incredible production and a large venue full of immersive art and music. It’s been a week since headliners gathered to celebrate Nocturnal Wonderland ’s 25th edition under the full moon at Glen Helen Regional Park in San Bernardino, California. 12/7/2023 0 Comments Brand wordmark vs logo![]() If you make any changes, you must get another trademark registration.Īnother problem with registering a mark as a logo mark lies in the registration process. This means that you have to use the Logo exactly as it was represented in the registration application. One problem with a logo mark is that there is no flexibility. Cons of registering a mark as a logo mark: That is how far a logo can go in building the image of your business. Yet, just seeing the Logo, people know that the goods belong to APPLE. As shown in the above image, the Logo of apple does not have the brand name written on it. If the design elements are unique identifiers, are essential to the business, and are used on a wide variety of visual material, getting the mark registered as a logo mark will go a long way in building the goodwill of the business. An eye-catching design will make it easier for consumers to remember the source of the goods or services they use. People are generally attracted to visually appealing things. ![]() Pros of registering a mark as a logo mark:Ī logo mark is more visual. Consistency is the key to enabling recollection by consumers. Moreover, if you keep changing the representation of your word mark, it might confuse the consumers. An eye-catching design will make a strong impression on the consumer’s mind. Cons of registering a mark as a word mark:īecause the function of a trademark is to help people recognize the source of the goods or services they are using, a logo mark has more visual appeal, making it easier for the consumers to recall it. This means that a word mark gives broader protection as you can change the mark’s appearance at your convenience. ![]() I can tweak its representation as long as the words FEATHER WIN are there. Instead, you can register the mark as a word mark and represent it with the Logo of your choice.įor example, if I have registered FEATHER WIN as a word mark, I can choose to use it in any manner that I like. Moreover, if you want to register the Logo, as well as the word, as trademarks, it could turn out to be an expensive affair. You only have to ensure that the spelling of the word or words remains the same. You can vary the design aspects of the word without worrying about losing trademark protection. A word mark, therefore, ensures broader protection as the words are protected irrespective of style. This means that a word mark can be represented in any manner. As already stated above, a word mark protects only the words or letters. Pros of registering a mark as a word mark:įlexibility is the most important advantage of registering a mark as a word mark. If you’re going to register just the Logo without the brand name, you can do that if you want to register FEATHER WIN as a logo mark without the brand name on it. So, while registering a design mark, you can choose whether you want to incorporate the brand name in the Logo or not. Here, it is also essential to understand that the Logo is the design that is described above, and the brand name is FEATHER WIN. If this Logo is registered, you must use the same Logo with the same violet and red color combinations whenever you are depicting the Logo. If FEATHER WIN was represented like this: You cannot choose different colors from what you registered as a trademark. If you represent the Logo in color, then you will have to use the same colors throughout. You can choose to represent the design with color or in black and white. What is a logo mark?Ī logo mark (device mark) is a graphic design or image which may or may not have wordings. As long as the spelling remains the same, once registered, I can choose to represent the word mark however I want. Nothing matters, be it the font size, the style, all caps, or not. If I choose to register it as a word mark, then only the words FEATHER WIN will be registered. Let’s say I want to register the words FEATHER WIN. Let’s take an example to understand this well. You seek protection for the words or letters. The words or letters are registered irrespective of their manner of representation. No attention is paid to the style in which the letters or words are represented, design, font size, or any other graphic feature of the words or letters. This means that only the combination of words or letters is registered. What is a word mark?Ī word mark is where you only seek to register the words or letters. When filing a trademark application, the most common dilemma is choosing a word mark or a logo trademark. There are two common kinds of trademarks: wordmarks and logo marks (device marks). Given the importance of a trademark in any business, you must be very careful when choosing your trademark. As such, it helps in building the goodwill of a business. ![]() It helps people recognize the source of the products or services they use. This film and Days of Future Past nail the relationship between those two more so than any X-Men film to date. But it uses it in a way that doesn't exploit that event, instead, gives a reason for there to be tension between Charles & Erik. First Class is set in the 60's, and uses the Cuban Missile Crisis as the film's climatic sequence. Something the new trilogy of X-Men films does incredibly well is use the decade the films are set in to enhance the overall story they were going for. Much like the film itself, McAvoy and Fassbender put their own spin on the characters, but bring enough similarity in their performance to understand the connective tissue between the pairs. Perhaps, some would say that the two of them have outdone their counterparts, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan (I, myself being one of those people). ![]() ![]() I don't think we could have dreamed of a better pairing to take over the roles of Professor X and Magneto than James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender. Luckily, casting was something 20th Century Fox had no problem with. Setting an X-Men film in the 1960's meant having to recast all of the recurring characters. Vaughn does a wonderful job balancing the two. But there's something to be said for a mutant story that poses similar thought provoking questions and themes like before, while also making a fun adventure out of it. The original X-Men trilogy took itself very seriously and rightfully so. Up to this point, I liked most of the X-Men films, but even the people who have loved the series would say that there wasn't much "fun" to be had. In large part, the strengths of the film lie with Matthew Vaughn's direction. Even though the continuity has since been mingled with even more, this film did such a great job of resetting the universe without tarnishing what came before. There are a lot of great things about First Class, but I think the one that sticks out to me the most (even after years and tons of viewings) is that it works as both a reboot and prequel. Rating: PG-13 (Intense Sequences of Action|Brief Partial Nudity|Intense Sequences of Violence|Language|Some Sexual Content) However, a situation soon tears the friends apart. As the world teeters on the brink of a nuclear war, Charles and Erik with other mutants join forces to save humanity. Despite their vastly different backgrounds - Charles grew up with a wealthy family, while Erik lost his parents at Auschwitz - the two become close friends. In the early 1960s, during the height of the Cold War, a mutant named Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) meets a fellow mutant named Erik Lehnsherr (Michael Fassbender). 12/6/2023 0 Comments Apple pencil best buyIt will be more of a benefit for kids (who are, again, a key audience for the Crayon) lacking as fine motor control as adults.įor those who want to be able to take notes or annotate while on the move, the extra grip of the Crayon may be more welcome (Image credit: Apple) Apple Pencil vs Logitech Crayon: Charge The Crayon has a more matter-feeling finish, and the extra size helps you to keep a strong grip too.įor those doing fine and precise work, the Apple Pencil is more easily manipulated in tiny ways (and gets in the way of what you’re looking at a little less) so when combined with its pressure sensitivity, it becomes even more the artists’ choice.īut for those who want to be able to take notes or annotate while on the move, the extra grip of the Crayon may be more welcome – though, as we said, it’s not a huge difference. The Apple Pencil has a glossy exterior, which can easily become a little slick with oils from your skin – Apple fixed this with a matte finish on its own-second gen Pencil. The way the Pencil’s size copies real pencils will be a boon for some, but plenty of people will equally prefer a chunker grip that they’ve become used to with Wacom styluses (though the Crayon is still only thick in one dimension, so isn’t quite the same as a big rubbery Wacom grip). Though the Crayon is larger than the Pencil, there’s not too much difference between them ergonomically. For everyone else, you can decide if you want the potential of making use of pressure sensitivity in the future.Īpple Pencil has pressure sensitivity, the Logitech Crayon doesn’t (Image credit: Apple) Apple Pencil vs Logitech Crayon: Ergonomics Illustrators looking to do anything more than highly basic outlines should avoid the Crayon and go for the Apple Pencil. That the Crayon draws with the same level of precision as the Apple Pencil doesn’t matter if you can’t control the lines as finely, since you end up drawing so much more crudely, because that’s all the stylus is capable of. If you’re planning to use a stylus for the precision application of effects in photo editing apps, then pressure sensitivity isn’t a requirement.īut for professional art, you need it. If you just want to take notes on it, pressure sensitivity isn’t required (though some ink-mimicking notes apps do make use of it for a more natural look) and the Crayon is perfectly functional. You probably know already whether this is a deal-breaker for you. But the Crayon simply doesn’t handle pressure at all, while the Apple Pencil is great for fine-grained pressure sensitivity. When it comes to performance, there’s one major difference you need to know about: the Apple Pencil has pressure sensitivity, and the Logitech Crayon doesn’t.īoth styluses write or draw with the same level of precision (technically speaking), and they both include tilt detection, enabling some artistic tool control in that sense. ![]() ![]() (Image credit: Apple) Apple Pencil vs Logitech Crayon: Performance |
